Auction Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I view the art in person?

Yes, all original artworks marked “Viewable in person at the Hockaday Museum of Art” will be available to view in person beginning Saturday June 26 in the Hockaday galleries during our opening reception from 5-8pm and through July 31.

 

  1. When can I register to bid? How? Is there a fee to register or bid?

You can register to bid directly on the auction website,as well as sign up to view watch lists, receive text notifications when you’ve been outbid, and more. There is no fee to register or bid, but if you win the auction or sale, there is a small 3% processing fee you will be asked to pay to help cover the software costs. As we are a non-profit, these fees are tax deductible.

 

  1. How can I bid?

The Online Auction goes live at 5:00 pm MST Saturday, June 26, 2021 and the Buy it Now option ends at 8:01 pm MST. Go to: https://fly.causepilot.com/hockadaymuseumofart/pleinairglacier2021

  • Visit the auction website from your computer, tablet, or mobile device and click on the artwork you would like to bid on, enter your information and choose if you would like to receive text notifications that you have been outbid. If you wish to skip the auction portion, all works will be available for sale at a “buy it now
  • You can also bid by smart phone by texting “Auction” to 4062965537

 

  1. I cannot participate in the auction on 6/26. Can I leave bids? How?

The auction portion is a one night only event, however any unsold works will be available for sale on the same Auction site at a fixed price June 27-July 31.

 

  1. When can I pick up work?

All works at the Hockaday will be available for pick up after the exhibition closes, beginning July 31. Please email [email protected] to set up a time to come get your new painting!

 

  1. When will work be shipped?

For purchase of artworks not included in the exhibition by artists working remotely, shipping will have to be arranged directly with the artist and may include additional shipping costs. Shipping contact info will be shared with the buyer.

 

  1. This is a HMA What percent goes to the HMA? To the artist?

Plein Air Glacier 2021 is a fundraiser for the Hockaday and the artists. 50% goes towards Hockaday educational programs and events and 50% goes to the artists. As the Hockaday Museum of Art is a non-profit 501 c 3 charitable organization a portion of your purchase may be tax deductible. Check with your tax advisor.

 

  1. If I have trouble bidding, is there a troubleshooter telephone I can call?

Yes, Hockaday staff can help assist you over the phone the day of the auction from 4-8 pm. Call 406-755 5268 for assistance. We can also do “buy it now” credit card purchases over the phone.

 

  1. When does auction portion close? When does final buying option end?

The Online Auction goes live at 5:00 pm MST Saturday, June 26, 2021 and ends at 8:01 pm MST. any unsold works will be available for sale online at a fixed price June 27-July 31. You may also purchase works in person at the Hockaday or over the phone with a credit card beginning June 29 from the hours of 11-5, Tuesday-Saturday.
