Fundraiser Terms of Service
Last Updated: December 4, 2025
Introduction
These Fundraiser Terms of Service (“FTOS”) govern your use of the CausePilot fundraising platform and apply to all fundraisers—including nonprofits, schools, PTAs, clubs, businesses, corporations, and individuals—who create or manage fundraising events, activities, or campaigns.
CausePilot is a product of Common Good Fundraising LLC (“we,” “us,” “our). By using the Services, you are entering into a binding agreement with Common Good Fundraising LLC.
Data Ownership & Privacy
You retain ownership of all data, participant information, and content you upload. CausePilot does not sell, rent, or license your data to any third party. By using the Service, you grant CausePilot permission to send operational notices and promotional communications to users and participants who interact with your fundraiser. CausePilot may use aggregated, non‑identifiable analytics for product improvement.
Legitimacy & Removal of Fundraisers
CausePilot may remove, suspend, or disable any fundraiser, event, or account at its sole discretion if it determines the fundraiser is fraudulent, misleading, harmful, hateful, illegal, or violates community standards. CausePilot may do so without prior notice.
Limitation of Liability
CausePilot’s total liability is limited to direct damages not to exceed the total amount paid by the fundraiser to CausePilot within the calendar year (January through December). Refunds may only cover actual fees paid to CausePilot; you cannot sue for additional losses, consequential damages, punitive damages, lost profits, or damages associated with your fundraiser, donors, participants, sponsors, buyers, or volunteers.
Content & Acceptable Use
You agree not to upload illegal, infringing, hateful, pornographic, fraudulent, or harmful content. You may not use the platform to harass, impersonate, conduct unlicensed raffles, or engage in activities that violate state, federal, or international laws.
Raffles
You understand that raffles require proper licensing in many states. You agree that you will obtain any required raffle license and provide proof to CausePilot before conducting a raffle.
Payment Processing
Payment processing is provided through Stripe Connect. By using the Service, you agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service. CausePilot may update its payment processors at any time.
Personal or Pass-Through Fundraising
If you are not a registered nonprofit and you represent that funds will be donated to a charitable organization, you are solely responsible for forwarding those funds to the intended recipient. CausePilot is not responsible for verifying that funds are used as stated, nor liable for the actions, omissions, or representations of any fundraiser.
No Tax Advice or Guarantees
CausePilot does not provide legal or tax advice and makes no representation regarding the tax-deductibility of any payment, purchase, contribution, or donation. It is solely your responsibility to consult a tax professional to determine eligibility for any deduction.
Tax Responsibility
You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for determining and fulfilling any tax obligations associated with funds raised through CausePilot, including but not limited to income tax, sales tax, charitable contribution reporting, or required filings under federal, state, or local law. CausePilot does not provide tax advice, does not determine your tax obligations, and does not issue tax receipts or documentation on your behalf.
Tax Reporting and Verification
Fundraisers using Stripe Connect are required to complete all identity verification and tax reporting requirements directly with Stripe, including providing Social Security Numbers, EINs, or other documentation Stripe may require under federal and state regulations. Stripe, not CausePilot, is responsible for issuing any required tax forms, including but not limited to Form 1099-K. CausePilot does not collect Social Security Numbers and does not issue tax documentation.
Marketing & Communications
CausePilot reserves the right to contact users and participants for promotional purposes, feature announcements, educational content, or platform updates. Users may opt out where legally required, except for critical service announcements.
Termination
CausePilot may terminate your account at any time, without notice, for violation of these terms, fraudulent behavior, failure to pay fees, inactivity, or other reasons. Upon termination, access to your account and data may be removed.
Right to Modify Terms
CausePilot (Common Good Fundraising LLC) reserves the right to update, change, or replace any part of these Terms at any time, at its sole discretion. When changes are made, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the document and may provide additional notice as required by law. All modifications are effective immediately upon posting unless otherwise stated. Your continued use of the Site or Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the Site and Services.
General
These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and Common Good Fundraising LLC d/b/a CausePilot, a Tennessee limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee. Venue shall be in Nashville, TN. If any part of these FTOS is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
