The Damselfly and the Dragonfly

Damselflies are smaller and slimmer than dragonflies and are found on every continent except Antarctica.
Damselflies will inhabit areas around wetlands. They are gentler, smaller, and more sensitive than their notoriously powerful dragonfly cousins. Yet, they’re still a force to be reckoned with and occupy a very similar niche as agile predators both in the water and in the air.
Damselflies, like dragonflies, date back 350 million years.
Dragonflies and damselflies are both in the order Odonata which is an enormous group of mostly predatory flying insects with approximately 2,000 species.
Adult damselflies hunt among long grasses and will pick off small insects like mosquitoes. They have excellent vision from two, widely separated compound eyes, that act as another distinguishing feature from dragonflies. Large damselflies are even able to pluck spiders from the center of their webs.
Change is occurring
In most parts of the world Dragonflies symbolize change, transformation, and new beginnings. They can show up in your daily life or your dreams. A dragonfly means you need to open the window to your mind, feelings, and emotions, and release thoughts that block you from moving forward and creating change in our lives.
