Check In

Speed up entry to the auction! Completing Self Check-In with accurate ticket-holder information will allow for a quicker process at the door.

Self Check-In

Off-Site Bidders must complete Self Check-In in order to participate in the online auction.
It’s not required to complete Self Check-In if you are attending the auction in person, but it will make getting into the party a lot faster!

All ticket-holders will receive an email to check-in for the auction.

  1. Click the CHECK IN button in the email, which takes you to your My Tickets page showing all tickets purchased through your CausePilot account.
  2. Verify your ticket-holders’ information is correct
    • Assign ticket holders with their own email address to allow them to establish their own CausePilot account and participate in the event. Otherwise, they are bidding with the ticket purchaser's account!
    1. Name, email address, and a credit card are required for all CausePilot accounts. (Ticket holders can share accounts. See Couples.)
    2. Click “Edit Info” to change any ticket holder’s contact information.
  3. Finalize your check-in.
    • The Check-in button will only turn a color and be clickable when the tickets have been assigned and a credit card has been entered.
    • Successful Check–In Notification:
NOTE: You do not need to present the email at the door!

Bidding

  • When bidding on an item, you must first meet the minimum bid requirement. All subsequent bids must be greater than or equal to the current winning bid + the bid increment.
Example: An item has a minimum bid of $50 with an incremental bid amount of $5.
The first bid must be $50, then the next bid at least $55.
  • If you “place a bid,” that will place a single bid for that exact amount on the item.
Example: If $100 is entered into the bid field, the user will have a bid of $100.

Maximum Bids

  • You can place a "maximum bid" that's kept private from others. The system will bid for you up to that amount. If no one bids higher than your maximum bid, you'll be the winning bidder. The maximum bidder wins until they're outbid.
  • In the case that someone bids an amount greater than your maximum bid, they will then be the high bidder.
  • In the event another user places a bid of exactly the same amount as your maximum bid, you will have the high bid at that exact amount (your current bid will rise to the maximum bid amount).

Off-Site Bidding

  • The Live Auction is an “offline” portion of the event, so only event goers will be able to bid on Live Auction items.
  • Online bidding works the same way for Off-Site Bidders as it does for those at the event. Follow the guidance above to participate.

Outbid Notifications

  • If you are the high bidder and are outbid, you will receive a text notification so you can place a higher maximum bid.
  • If you place a bid equal to or lower than the highest maximum bid (which may be different that the bid showing on the item’s page), you will immediately receive an online notification that you have been outbid.

Live Auction

Onsite Ticket Holders will have the opportunity to bid on several items only available to those attending the event.

Group Payments

If a group (e.g. a grade or class; this does not apply to those bidding as couples) would like to bid on an item together, there are a few things to know.

Before the Auction

  • Designate one person to place the group’s bid (the group’s primary bidder).
NOTE: this person will be responsible for organizing final payment after the auction
  • Discuss spending limits with the group and determine how the overall cost will be divided among participants.
  • Decide how your group will handle the final payment.

Group Payment Option 1

  1. The group’s primary bidder pays TDS in full for the item along with any other items won.
  2. The primary bidder is reimbursed by each of the group members for their share of the item total.

Group Payment Option 2

  1. The group’s primary bidder notifies TDS by Monday, April 17 that they will be splitting the payment of the item.
NOTE: You will need to know each purchaser’s Name, Email address, and Amount Due.
  2. The item will be removed from the primary bidder’s CausePilot cart.
NOTE: The primary contact will still be responsible for payment of any remaining items in their CausePilot cart. Payment for these items may be completed at any time once the group item has been removed.
  3. TDS will separately invoice each member of the group for their amount due (per information from the primary bidder).
  4. Each group member will follow the instructions on their invoice to pay the amount due.

Couples

  • If you and another ticket holder wish to bid and pay for any items won together, enter the same email address for both tickets on your My Tickets page.
  • Up to two ticket holders may have the same email address/account. However, each ticket holder’s name must be different.
  • Both ticket holders (with a shared email address/account) can participate on separate devices by each logging in to their shared CausePilot account.

Credit Card information required

  • Every auction participant (off-site or in-person) must have a credit card on file in their CausePilot account.
NOTE: only one credit card is required if couples are sharing a CausePilot account (i.e. bidding together).
  • You can still use a different card to checkout after the auction (until Monday, April 24, see Checkout).
  • You are not required to pay by credit card for items won (see Checkout).
  • Why? To facilitate check-out and make sure all winning bids are paid in a timely manner.
