All funds will benefit two local nonprofits, Bags of Love Foundation (BOL) and GG The Warrior.
Bags of Love (BOL)
Bags of Love Foundation was founded by Julian Castaneda, a two-time cancer survivor and bone marrow transplant recipient. He was first diagnosed with leukemia at age 10 and battled for 3 years. He was in remission for 2 years until the cancer came back in full force at age 16. He began chemotherapy, radiation, and then received a bone marrow transplant. During this time, he realized how lonely it could be and thought about how he could help others going through cancer.
So, at the age of 18, he founded Bags of Love Foundation because he wanted to use his story to provide hope.BOL has now raised over $150,000, been recognized nationally on Good Morning America, and has provided hope to countless families fighting cancer.
GG The Warrior
Meet Gisselle Guerrero, a young 14-year-old girl who was diagnosed with High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2019 . She was just 11 years old and had to undergo 2 1/2 yrs of treatment. After induction, she went into remission and started raising money for other kids going through the same experience as her. She partakes in the Student Visionary Campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society each year. In 2020 she became the founder of GGtheWarrior, a local nonprofit giving back to children and families affected by childhood cancer.
She is now a Freshman at Highland High School involved in FFA, maintaining good grades while raising money and awareness for kids like her.
Cocktail Hour Entertainment:
JCR is an LA-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. His raw and intimate lyrics blend with hopeful yet melancholic melodies. Three words that can describe JCR are persevering, empathetic, and adaptive. The obstacles he has faced, as a son of Peruvian immigrants, first-get student, cancer survivor, and an orphan of his father, have only made him a stronger artist. JCR focuses on Indie alternative/Folk/Pop/Rock music. He has been compared to Morrissey from The Smiths, has been called the latino Sufjan Stevens, and the hispanic Hozier.
In high school, he performed with the string orchestra, marching band, and jazz ensemble. He now majors in Music Industry and minors in Music Production at the University of Southern California. JCR is also involved with the student-run record label 840 West, the Play It Back music program, Teen Cancer America, Blue Dream Studios, and Hipgnosis Songs Group. His experiences allow the creation of music that expresses the hardships and the beauties of life.
