GROW/GIVE
Writer, Artist, Librarians never retire
I have discovered GROW and GIVE as beneficial focus words to make this last chapter of my life more meaningful. Creating this year’s mask became a meditation on this theme.
My mask uses these words written in English, in the Ogham writing I discovered in Ireland, and as the spiral, a universal symbol for growth. I had fun experimenting with media new to me, such as Brusho crystal, India ink, and bleeding tissue paper, as I built up the complex layers of growing leaves offered from an open hand.
